At least seven peacekeepers have been killed and more than 20 injured after a horde of 200 gunmen on horseback and in jeeps attacked the United Nations and African Union force in Darfur. It is the worst attack the new peace mission (Unamid) has suffered. |

Sudan's President indicted for genocide by ICC |

Sudan's president has been accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
Luis Moreno-Ocampo told judges at The Hague that Omar al-Bashir bore criminal responsibility for alleged atrocities committed over the past five years.

The UN security council has extended its Darfur peacekeeping mandate in a last-minute vote, the outcome of which was thrown into jeopardy by attempts to prosecute Sudan's president on genocide charges. |

Global Day for Darfur - Sunday April 13th |

13th April 2008 UK organisers of the Day for Darfur are planning a major demonstration outside the Sudanese Embassy, starting at 12.30pm on 13th April. Jonathan Freedland (The Guardian) will be compering the rally and he will be joined by speakers including politicians, activists and faith leaders. Musicians from a range of backgrounds will also contribute to the rally. |

KLP, Norwegian life & pensions company boycotts Alstom following allegations of human rights abuses |

3rd Dec 07 - Alstom, the French energy and rail infrastructure group, is the latest company to be hit by an institutional investor boycott over business links in Sudan. KLP, Norwegian life and pensions company, is excluding Alstom from its index portfolio for alleged violations of human rights at a Sudanese hydro-power dam project. |
